Serves as nurse for Youth Study Center (YSC) after hours and weekends. Responsible for initial intakes working closely with linkage to care coordinator. Responsible for notification and documentation of after-hours emergency to Medical Director, Medical Psychologist/Psychiatrist and Nurse Manager. Serves as primary mental health nurse, performing check-in and vitals for mental health patients. Provides medications, vaccines and injections as needed. Serve as lab nurse and prepares for transmission to lab. Adheres to YSC Core Values.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to pass YSCs Safe Crisis Management (SCM) hold and escape Training. Ability to work cooperatively with others of diverse education and cultural backgrounds. Ability to establish priorities, exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality and integrity in the performance of all duties. Ability to careful attention to detail and excellent clinical judgment. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent communication skills; ability to listen carefully and communicate tactfully. Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and appropriately. Proficient computer skills. Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with individuals within the Facility. Ability to work overtime and weekends, as needed.
Required Education and/or Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing with current licensure from the Louisiana State Board to practice professional nursing upon the date of hire. Two (2) years nursing experience in a clinic, medical office, or hospital.
